Harrison & Moberly, LLP Recognized for its Green Practices

January 29, 2013 //  by Harrison & Moberly

Harrison & Moberly, LLP was one of 19 Indianapolis-area law firms and legal departments recognized by the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Go Green Committee as a member of the inaugural 2012 IndyBar Green Legal Initiative. Green Legal Initiative members have demonstrated a commitment to sustainable and environmentally conscious business practices.  2012 Green Legal Initiative Members were recognized at the Indianapolis Bar Association and Foundation Recognition Luncheon on Thursday, November 8.

The Green Legal Initiative, introduced in 2012, was created to encourage legal businesses to commit and engage in environmentally responsible business practices.  The Initiative is open to law practices, legal departments, courts, legal agencies, legal support services, and other members of the community.

Green Legal Members make an initial pledge to engage in “greener” habits.  Members can then elevate their Green Legal status by demonstrating their compliance with green business practices in six categories: Water Conservation, Energy Conservation, Recycling, Waste and Paper Reduction, Purchasing and Community Involvement and becoming “Green Legal Certified” at one of four levels.

Such practices include utilizing automatic shut-off lights and water fixtures, replacing disposable cups and plates with reusable ware, and initiating recycling programs.  The more “green” habits a member participates in, the more points and the higher the level of recognition.

Harrison & Moberly, LLP is a Certifying Member awarded One Leaf by the Go Green Committee.  Harrison & Moberly, LLP instituted numerous environmentally conscious business practices several years before the IndyBar Green Legal Initiative; nevertheless, the firm is proud of this recognition.
